Fun Times at NJPAC: The Amazing Entertainment Near You

RC- The New Jersey Performing Arts Center is the right place to spend a fun time among family and friends. Introducing to Newark’s audiences the best in contemporary entertainment, ranging from music to dance, film and workshops, the venue located at 1 Center Street, presents amazing shows that will certainly cheer up any occasion. Among the highlights in the upcoming feature shows, we’ve selected three amazing must-see shows. ERIC ROBERSON (Saturday, February 26th at 8 pm)

Two-time GRAMMY™ nominee Eric Roberson (“Picture Perfect,” “At the Same Time”), widely known as the King of Independent Soul and R&B, continues to break boundaries as the original pioneer of the independent movement in R&B and soul music.

The Rahway-born singer’s remarkable success as a songwriter and producer has led to collaborations with Marsha Ambrosius, Dwele, Musiq Soulchild and many other notable artists. Described by vocalist Jill Scott as “a brilliant singer with a voice like red velvet cake,” Roberson became the first independent artist to be nominated for a BET Award in 2007 and was the recipient of the “Underground Artist of the Year” BETJ Virtual Award with Rahsaan Patterson in 2008. His albums include Mister Nice GuyThe Box and the three-EP compilation Earth, Wind and Fire.

CHRIS REDD (Sunday, February 27th at 7 pm)

It’s a Saturday night of comedy with the star of Saturday Night Live! Standup comic, sketch comedian, improviser, actor, rapper—the hilarious Chris Redd does it all. He started his career at Chicago’s famed Second City before making his way to the cast of SNL, where he won an Emmy Award in 2018. Chris grabbed the spotlight opposite Andy Samberg in the cult-favorite music mockumentary Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. You’ve also seen him co-starring in NBC’s Kenan with SNL castmate Kenan Thompson. Chris released his first comedy special on Comedy Central and recently debuted his standup album But Here We Are.

DEON COLE (Friday, March 11th at 8 pm)

Charismatic comic, writer and actor Deon Cole currently stars on ABC’s Black-ish and Freeform’s Grown-ish. You’ve also seen him alongside Ice Cube in the legendary Barbershop films. Deon’s electric stand-up specials include Deon Cole: Cole Blooded Seminar (Comedy Central), Cole Hearted (Netflix) and his recent ground-breaking comedy documentary Workin’ It Out (Netflix Is A Joke). He’s a two-time NAACP Image Awards winner and he’s been nominated for Emmy awards for his comedy writing on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien and Conan.
